Case Study: Payroll and Expense Report Processing

Situation
A leading application service provider that offers payroll and expense report processing
services to independent professionals, sales agents and consultants was looking for ways to
reduce the manual efforts of matching paper documents and typing data into their Payroll and
Expense Report backend business applications.
Many of their clients send the time cards and/or expense receipts using various communication
channels—email, fax or postal mail. Their existing process of handling these documents was
very labor intensive and error prone to lengthen the time required to complete these transactions.
The Solution
Softlinx delivered a DocuRouter-based, intelligent document routing solution along with Softlinx’ ReplixFax messaging system. The fax and email source connectors, the file destination connector and the OCR engine are part of the total solution.

The solution automatically captures inbound emails, faxes and scanned paper documents,
extracts key information contained in each document, and delivers them with associated documents
